Palm oil is not very long ago appeared in Russia. But because of its cheapness on the world market, they began to buy it in large quantities and now it is part of the majority of products that are daily on the table of the Russians. We eat it along with ice cream, mayonnaise, yoghurt, cookies, cottage cheese, chips, junk food, meat and butter semi-finished products, and even in inexpensive sunflower oil there is an admixture of palm oil.
The Internet is full of tips on its use of red palm oil for the treatment of all that is possible. All this of course is beautiful, but there is one "but." The fact is that palm oil is used in the industrial manufacture of confectionery products, which have an almost infinite shelf life. That is, this oil is a great preservative. If we add to this already rather doubtful property also its cheapness, then we, most likely, get the substance from which more harm than good.
Many scientists, in particular, do not recommend to use this oil in general, the harm of which is obvious. If we discard all the advertisements imposed by this product that promise fast recovery of the whole organism from its regular intake, we can find out that many serious experts who are not biased by advertisers do not even approve of its regular use and for what reasons.
The composition of the product
The oil has a peculiar red-orange color. It is extracted from the fleshy fruit of a certain type of palm trees - oil palm. It consists of glycerol esters, as well as fatty acids. You need to know that palm oil, unlike other vegetable oils, has two fractions. And both have different temperatures for melting.
The first fraction (liquid) olein. It melts at a temperature of 19 - 24 degrees. But the second fraction (solid) stearin melts at a temperature of 47 - 54 degrees. But it is above the temperature of the human body. So, getting into the body, the solid fraction is not digested. What happens to her next? And then the sticky mass is deposited on the walls of blood vessels, forms slags. Do you think it is healthy?
Red Palm Oil Harm
Many argue still about the dangers of regular and red palm oil. Proponents of the usefulness of the red product claim that it is obtained from the fruits of specially bred palm trees. Opponents say that even from which palm trees they make it, palmic acid does not disappear anywhere from its composition. But it is the saturated fats of which it is made that raise the level of harmful cholesterol, which is why very dangerous pathologies of the heart and blood vessels occur, namely thrombosis, atherosclerosis, obesity, heart attacks, strokes, ischemia, etc.
In addition, when a patient after a heart attack or stroke is discharged from the hospital, the attending physician gives a reminder of what products should not be taken. So, there is indicated on products containing palm oil. Moreover, not dividing by red, yellow, white, etc. So draw conclusions.
By the way, it is saturated fats that play the role of preservatives, allowing you to store perishable foods for a long time. This is probably the only positive feature of this oil.
It should also be said that many Western countries have banned the use of it in the food industry. Therefore, there it is used only for industrial purposes. For example, it cleans the engine very well, as it has a sticky structure. In addition, this product is recognized as the strongest carcinogen.
But our manufacturers continue to use it in the preparation of products, as well as to insist on the health benefits of red palm oil. And this is understandable. After all, for them the main thing is profit. And that person will get a killer dose of cholesterol, they are not interested. After all, they in Russia only “do business”. Where families live, most of them, and they themselves are probably not a secret to anyone.
Therefore, I will not mislead you and tell you that red palm oil is useful and the other is not useful. Of course, you have to decide for yourself. But before you believe thoughtlessly advertising and start taking it for the healing of the body, and even give to your children, read about it as much as possible, and not only laudatory.
Is it possible to reduce the harm of palm oil?
- It is possible to minimize the use of products in which this oil contains. To do this, do not aspire for cheapness and do not buy semi-finished products. After all, it is known that when a manufacturer saves on production, instead of using high-quality, useful vegetable oil, it uses palm oil - the price of goods is significantly reduced.
- Therefore, do not take long-term storage products, try to cook yourself if possible. At the very least, you will be assured of the quality of the components you use. Cooking at home is generally the best way to take care of your health. Although, of course, it takes time, labor and does not always suit people very busy at work. But here the choice is yours.
- Always, before you buy a product, carefully study its composition. If you have any doubts or the composition is not indicated in Russian, ask the seller the documents for this product, where you can read what it consists of.
- And, of course, do not take pastries, dairy and confectionery with a too long shelf life. And also stop eating fast food products. Take care of your health yourself.
If this product is consumed in moderation and not abused, in this case, it will only benefit the body, so you should carefully monitor its quantity, and not exceed the optimal dose.
