(Kamasutra = love the tutorial, ars amadi) is a title of an Indian erotic treatise written by doctor Vatsyayanas (Vatsyayana).
The author builds on several predecessors, of which have other very famous names.
There is an indication that the philosopher Shankara wrote this work to review.
The content of the Kama Sutra is set out in Aufrecht: "Catalogus codd. Mss. sanscritorum post-vedicorum" (Oxf., 1859, p. 215 FF.). Cm. A. Weber, "Indische Literaturgeschichte" (2nd ed., p. 285).
